With Nautical fashion being a key trend for the season, deck shoes are the must have footwear for the summer.

The nautical trend was a major hit on the catwalks of S/S 09 and was featured heavily in the collections of Michael Kors and D&G.

The preppy Deck shoe look is perfect for the summer; and compliments the nautical theme perfectly. Pixie Geldof has been pictured wearing stylish deck shoes and Alexa Chung has even said that her top tip for summer footwear is "Sebago deck shoes in brown leather". Boat shoes are a very easy way to add colour to an outfit, I particularly like Sebago Dockside in Pink suede, the pastel shade is perfect for sunny weather, and they are a great casual alternative to ballet pumps and flats. The shoes are featured in the popular TV Show Gossip Girl, being worn by the characters Nate and Chuck and Kayne West has also been pictured wearing the shoes. The traditional Sebago style Schooner is a great example of a classic men's deck shoe that is on trend for the season.

The Guardian fashion section states that boat shoes are “now a badge of youth” worn by the Hollywood elite who have a lot of leisure time on their hands. If you want a stylish weekend shoe, then for the fashion conscious the deck shoe is a must have for the season.
